Hey there! Today we're looking at an oldie but goodie - COVENANTS. We've previously discussed this topic in our P&P fellowship. But today, for the inaugural Kingdom Business gathering, we get to look at this very crucial spiritual issue with our business hats on.
If you don't recall our prior focus on Covenants, please see - Your Promises - Friday Praise & Pray (for others) July 8, 2022.
Here are a few highlights: We serve the Covenant-keeping God. Once He makes a promise, He will keep it. He will keep His promises with us even if we fail to keep our covenants with Him. As such, He expects us to be the same - keep our commitments at all costs! Now, that seems extreme but if you look at the word, that's what is expected of us. That said, let's talk about covenants from a business/career perspective. Let's dig into what we're dealing with and help each other come up with ways to navigate the issues. Let's keep God's word in mind and embolden each other with scripture as well. Remember, Proverbs 27:17 - As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. That means we can't be shy, especially as we've only got 40 minutes to say, and do, the needful. We've got to share and sharpen each other. Please don't deprive others of your wisdom. Even a question that might seem silly can provide the edification someone else needs. Join me in praying: Heavenly Father, thank You for this first Kingdom Business gathering. You are worthy of all our praise and You alone deserve all the glory. We call on You to kindly guide us so we say what You want said and receive what You want learned. We invite the Holy Spirit into our gathering and seek Your presence to remain with us even after we dispense, IJMN, Amen. God bless you!
Well, an hour somehow flew by!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by and chatted on the issue of covenants and business.
I look forward to chatting next week, when we'll talk about the significance of who we work with. Think about whether the people we get into business matters and how.
God bless you and keep you till we meet again.
Father, thank You for this opportunity to gather and chat. Help us to be mindful of the agreements we enter and to make sure they don't disobey Your rules and the things You have told us. Help us to remain mindful of You at all stages of our business and our lives, IJMN, Amen.
TBH I haven't really considered covenant-keeping from a business perspective, other than biblical principles I've applied to (a previous) business such as being of service to others 1 Peter 4:10, going the extra mile Matthew 5:41 and profits used for good Matthew 6:21.
I haven't launched my (new) business yet and this conversation is giving me a lot of food for thought.
Hello Sis. I have had to review the way I communicate with God after you first mentioned Covenants during P&P. I thought covenants had to be spoken but I have come to realize that includes thoughts as well. I don't own a business yet but I try to donate money to those that less fortunate as commanded in Mathew 25:40.
I recently spoke to a believer and had to encourage them to be very careful about the things they agreed to do in their workplace. I pointed out that they had a covenant with God that trumped their employment contract or any pressure a superior at work might put on them to do something illegal or on the margins of illegality.
Sometimes, we don't realize something is illegal or contrary to God's instruction because we see everyone else is doing it. This is why we need to remember our agreements with the Lord and His word so we stay out of trouble.
Has anyone been in such a situation? What did you do?
So, what are our thoughts about covenants/agreements/promises in business? Have you had any that were hard for you to keep?
