Have you looked at the news lately? The global economy looks shaky. In the US, banks are shutting down, artificial intelligence is the talk of the town while tech companies are firing tens of thousands. Inflation remains high and is increasing. What's a small business owner to do during such uncertain times?
Praise God that we are in this world and not of it. The economy if heaven doesn't experience dips. When our businesses are plugged into the Lord and His kingdom, we witness the Almighty's grace upon the works of our hands. As believers we should know by now that physical issues are solved in the spiritual. Therefore, our businesses cannot exist outside of the prayer and warfare that should be a regular pattern of our lives. That said, if you are anxious about the economy and its potential impact on your business plans, then apply 1 Peter 5:7 - Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Therefore, place those worries at God's feet through prayers, letting go of them all. The next step is to seek the Lord's protection for your businesses. The word of God is filled with assurances of protection that we can and must claim. Yet, this is a step many believers ignore and take for granted. Surely, simply giving your life to Christ ushers you into many of God's blessings. However, if you remember that the accuser of the brethren constantly slanders God's people, then you'll remember the need to regularly make requests for God's protection so as to rebuke and silence the devil.
Consider the promise in Psalm 139:5 - You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. This declaration acts as a request for God to surround all that concerns you, including your business.
Declare the following against all that seeks to destroy your business. Call on Him to keep a watchful eye with Zechariah 9:8 - But I will encamp at my temple to guard it against marauding forces. Never again will an oppressor overrun my people, for now I am keeping watch.
Then there's the juggernaut of a promise as contained in Isaiah 32:17-18 - Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely, how blessed you will be, sowing your seed by every stream, and letting your cattle and donkeys range free. This reassures the believer that no matter what is going wrong around them, the danger and trouble will not touch what belongs to them.
These verses don't reflect the abundance of promises available for you and your business in the word of God. Promises that are your inheritance if you are a believer. Promises that must be claimed and proclaimed.
With everything going on, being anxious is not abnormal. After all, you're only human. Remaining in that state of anxiety, however, is unscriptural. Be intentional to invite God to protect what you have built or are building. He has promised to hear and answer our prayers (Matthew 7:9).
