1 Peter 4:11 - If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
When I looked at this verse this morning, it reminded me of the need to be consistent in my ways no matter what eyes are on me. I can't speak God's word peaceably to people, only to act like a heathen under other settings.
I thought that was to be the lesson to take from this scripture until the Lord had me zoom in on this specific section - so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. At that point I immediately understood that this verse was not only a lesson for how I'm to live my life but also how I'm to run a business.
Entrepreneurs focus on getting their business running like a well-oiled machine. One that creates profit. However, as a believer, I've learned that my business - just like myself - acts as a representation of the Lord. And now, I know that my business should actually cause God to be praised.
That was a perspective I didn't have before. And frankly, it has caused me to understand that I need to spend more time seeking God's understanding on how my business can and should bring Him praise. I now see that a successful business is not just about creating profit. And despite my Christian stance, I also now realize that my business is also not just a vehicle for sharing God's word. I must know how it gives Him praise and to find that out, I will need to take the time to seek God's guidance and leading.
I pray you will take the time to do the same, IJMN, Amen.
