Let's be honest, owning a business isn't easy. In fact, one out of five American businesses fail in the first year according to statistics. With that in mind, many are unwilling to add entrepreneurship to the long list of things they need to deal with on a daily basis.
Many people around the world are content to find a job with satisfactory benefits and work there until they qualify to retire.
There is nothing wrong with that approach.
However, we gather here to talk about business. So, are you interested in starting a business? Have you prayed and fasted for God's understanding and guidance? Let's talk about the believer's process from no business to entrepreneur? What are your concerns about starting a business?
Or, do you already have a business? How did you decide to start it? Did you consult the Lord first, during or after? What are your concerns as a business owner?
Before we get to discussing, let's invite the Lord into our midst -
Heavenly Father, you are the God who created us and made us in Your image. Thank You for making us special! As we discuss this issue of entrepreneurship and how to start, please teach us, guiding our thoughts, IJMN, Amen.
Amen! Amen!
Entrepreneurship has always been in my spirit. My first "business" was at age 13 doing nails for other students at school. This current business idea that I am working on, I know in my heart was sent to me by Abba. It wasn't a business that I had ever thought about starting. It was a product I wished had been available to purchase at a store for personal use and one random day, I was sitting in the car when the idea came to me. During the car ride, ideas for the product/business just started flooding my mind and I literally wrote a business plan on my note app during the 40 min journey. When we arrived at my destination I told my Husband about it and I was surprised by how enthusiastic he was about it. We prayed over it daily and for 6 months we worked on creating the product together. Every single building block of the product I asked for God's guidance on. Abba literally built this product and gave me ideas for ingredients and materials that I hadn't even been aware of. When funds were tight as a result of a lot of loss due to covid, God made a way for us. As an example, I was able to get not one but two IP attorneys to do my trademarks for free (if anyone requires this, please let me know, I am happy to share). I found a random link for our registered agent that gave me 50% off. I was accepted into a black business mentorship group with major heavy hitters, and I have received great resources and advice... and so so much more. God has guided this entire journey. However lately, I began having a lot of doubt, fear, and apathy. I know that it's the enemy trying to thwart God's plan and so I am currently praying and fasting to get through it. I don't want to dishonor God. That is my biggest fear.
