Typically, an inheritance is a gift bestowed upon a child from a parent who has passed on. A man may give their son a painting. A woman may leave an item of jewelry for a granddaughter. Parents can also leave a house, land, or other assets such as stock and bonds. Such a gift is a reflection of the familial relationship. It is a gift the child did not work for but gets because of the love shared between the deceased and the recipient.
Just as humans leave an inheritance for those who come after them, so does God bestow an inheritance upon His children. However, His children don't have to wait for His death to receive this gift. Christ died so every person who believes in the Lord can receive a godly inheritance right now.
But what exactly is this godly inheritance? And how can a Christian get their hands on it?
To answer these questions, we must first consider what we gained when Christ died on the cross for us. The crucifixion earned us the grace of God, freedom from sin, power and authority over satan, strength, faith, God's love, and loyalty. We also received the right to proclaim that God's glory is upon us. Plus, we received the great gift of the Holy Spirit.
As to how we each can lay hold of these blessings and see them bear fruit in our lives, the key is righteousness. Psalm 37:18-19 - The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care, and their inheritance will endure forever. 19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.
Living a life of righteousness will ensure that our godly inheritance is secure and well-protected. When this is the case, the devil cannot steal the rewards of Christ's sacrifice from us.
Plus, given that God cares for the righteous, it won't matter what is going on in the world around us. Things will always somehow work out well for the righteous. The Bible says as much in Isaiah 32:19-20 - Though hail flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely, how blessed you will be, sowing your seed by every stream, and letting your cattle and donkeys range free. That inheritance works and provides dividends no matter what is going on in the world.
We didn't work to receive our godly inheritance. However, we must live righteously to keep it and enjoy the full benefits of that great gift. The good thing is that God Himself has promised to help His people live righteously. Not only has He provided a variety of avenues to achieve righteous living, but He has also committed to giving believers the capacity to live as He pleases (Philippians 2:13). Each of us simply needs to cooperate with His Holy Spirit who is tasked with telling us which way to go (Isaiah 30:21). And the more we study His Word and obey it, the more familiar righteous living will be.

Heavenly Father. The God who never loses a battle from age to age. The God who fights so His children can freely win.
Thank You, Lord! Thank You for another opportunity to gather as a community of believers willing to honor You with our worship and prayers of intercession. Thank You for leading us to this. May our fellowship rise as a sweet-smelling offering to You, my King! May we soon see and hear news of our prayers answered for our prayer subjects.
And Lord, please remember those who stood in the gap on behalf of others. Father, You who will show compassion to those whom You will show compassion to. Kindly remember them for interceding. They put their own prayer requests on the backburner to emulate Christ who always prayed for others and hardly ever for Himself. As such, I call on You to bless these ones. Surprise them, my God. Answer that longstanding petition of theirs. Let them know that You, the God of gods, the King of kings, the Lord of lords has not forgotten them.

LAST 10 MINUTES
If you are yet to choose to intentionally agree to submit to Christ, His teachings, and claim Him as your Lord and Savior, now is the time. It is imperative to do this. It allows you to receive the heritage you need to begin a victorious journey on earth as you make your way to heaven. Call out to Jesus. Tell Him you want Him to be the Lord of your life. Repent for your sins and thank Him for dying on the cross to set you free and create access to a godly inheritance. Ask Him to introduce Himself to you and to also grant you a deposit of God's Spirit.
Now, if you've done this, congratulations!!! Start thanking the Lord for your inheritance. And if you had already chosen to become born again in Christ, you also need to thank Him for your godly inheritance.
Praise Him that you don't have to wait but can benefit from your birthright as His child right now.
Today's post mentioned only some of the great blessings that come from being a child of God. Go back and take a look at them. Ask the Lord to teach you how to put these benefits and others to work in your life. Pray to the Lord to help you remain on His path of righteousness. Remember God is compassionate and when the righteous appeal to His compassionate side, He is moved to action. However, we must have faith that He will answer our petition. So, hold onto your faith and speak with Godfidence. Don't let the devil move you from your position of faith. God will surely help you.

God I pray for anyone You are using to help me and mine. I intercede for these people. Remember them for good because they helped one of Your children. Your word says "I will bless those who bless you", and that they will receive "a prophet's reward" for honoring one of Your prophets.
"He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives the One who sent Me." (Mt 10:40). I use this verse as a point of contact to the soul of these divine helpers. I call their soul into salvation. Let godly seeds from the Holy Spirit begin to sprout in their heart. Let them be God-fearing and saved.
Please protect them from the arrows of the enemy. In their personal lives, please also use their loved ones for Your purpose. For those that You have marked as Your own, please redeem them from the clutches of the enemy. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

PRAYER TIME
We've reached the portion of our fellowship where we pray for others. At this point, we put our needs to the side and focus on everyone but ourselves.
Pray so that others receive blessings because you stood in the breach for them. You want to hear their testimony and excitedly say, "I prayed for that!" You want to be able to jump up and down when you hear how well things went for them because the Lord answered your prayer on their behalf.
As believers in God Almighty, His Son Jesus Christ, and carriers of a deposit of the Holy Spirit, we should cover those who can't pray. Think of those who don't know our God. Think about those who are weary and need zeal to go on? Think of those suffering and in need of a way out. Your prayer could make the difference for them, so PUSH.
God I praise You for wisdom and prudence. Thank You for sustaining us and for giving us good things. I thank You because where others say there is a casting down, we say there is a lifting up
