Created To Praise - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) July 7, 2020

Have you ever wondered why mankind was created in the first place?

A reasonable answer is that He is the I AM that I AM and can create us for any reason whatsoever. Given that Isaiah 55:9 states, "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts...," we might want to save our gray matter, and not try to figure out that question.

Nevertheless, I was recently given a clue while praying and the answer was stunningly simple.

We were placed here to give God praise! We humans - indeed, all of creation - were made so God could look down and be pleased. We are to join the rest of heaven to honor and adore Him. Revelations 5:8-9 instructs that the four living creatures and the 24 elders sang praises to God. If that's what is going on in heaven, then we need to be doing the same at every opportunity.

God wants us to be like Job in that He could boast of how good a child he was (Job 1:8). And note, Job was the one who in the face of disaster, praised God first and chose to never speak ill of the Lord! (Job 1:20-21).

I know I'm giving this praise thing all I've got. So far, it's paying dividends for me. What about you? Think you can try consistent thanksgiving?
