Faith vs Trust - Friday Praise & Pray (for others) September 10, 2021

The Lord has been dealing with me on the issues of faith and trust. It's amazing that despite all He's done for me, there are still those moments that show my faith can waver. And yet, the Lord stands firm by my side. He never wavers in His word nor deviates from His plan. Praise God!

Today, my instruction is to share the distinction between faith and trust because it helps us navigate the challenges that will obviously come our way.

Faith is readily defined in Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Faith is a belief that what we can't see but expect will indeed come to pass by the grace of Jesus Christ. It requires you 'go out on a limb' and move blindly in many cases. It will require you do something that makes absolutely no sense - even to you.

Mark 11:22 - “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.

Trust is mentioned repeatedly in the Bible and the very concept relies on an understanding of God's innate character. He has told us who He is in the Bible in many places. One example is in Exodus 34:6 - And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,...

Remember, God is true, He is the truth (John 14:6). He cannot lie (Numbers 23:19). As such He keeps every promise, every covenant. Psalm 89:34 - I will not violate my covenant or alter what my lips have uttered. And if you read the Bible, He's made so many covenants that extend to you today. Covenants that stand firm despite the passage of time.

And that is why we can Trust God - He keeps His word and is reliable. Trust is therefore about relying on the character of God, the covenant keeper. In this case, you don't need to move blindly, you simply have to trust WHO HE IS.

May the Lord, in His unlimited understanding grant us grace to exercise more faith and apply more trust in Him. IJMN, Amen.

I pray the Lord will lead you to join us in Friday's Praise & Praise at Noon EST. We shall honor the Lord our God with a posture of worship and lift others up to Him in prayer. We shall meditate on the distinction between faith and truth and believe in Him to bring us closer to the place He has set for us, IJN, Amen.
