Fear of the Lord: His voice & security - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) March 15, 2022

Updated: May 9, 2022

Remember how God spoke to David at Ziklag giving him insight on how to rescue his family (1 Samuel 30)? Or how Gideon heard from God on exactly how to fight his peoples' enemies (Judges 6-7)? Both men were flawed and imperfect. Yet, the Lord led them with His voice. They listened, and experienced great victories.

Each of us, has access to the voice of God and the ability to hear directly from Him. He has told us in Psalm 25:12 - Who, then, are those who fear the LORD? He will instruct them in the ways they should choose.

The Fear of the Lord gives us direct access to the mind of God. It brings forth His direction for our lives and produces an intimate relationship where God speaks to His children. His voice will be as close as that described in Isaiah 30:21 - Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.

And if He chooses to instead talk to you a different way, say, through His word in the Bible, fear of the Lord will open your understanding, providing deep revelation that enables you to move in step with Him.

There are significant benefits to hearing the voice of the Lord. Paramount of them is security if you listen and obey. Proverbs 1:33 - But whoever listens to me will dwell in safety, secure from the fear of evil." (BSB). So while Isaiah 54:17 tells us no weapon formed shall prosper, fear of the Lord and obedience will secure us from those evil weapons all together. And specifically, from the very spirit of fear itself - a challenge so many face but now have a means to discard of.

I don't know about you but I want to hear God clearly and I also want to be secure in every way the Lord provides security. Fear of the Lord is the way. These additional benefits arising from the fear of the Lord cant be ignored and as we are in the last week of this series, we can add them to the others we've learned about - blessings, praises, favor, long life and healing. And to imagine there's more in store for us if we aren't stiff-necked!

May the Lord continue to reveal His word and the benefits of obeying His word. May He help us to not just see His word but embody it to His glory and by His grace, now and always IJMN, Amen.

See you at 12 Noon!
