Get Scrappy - Friday Praise & Pray (for others) March 25, 2022

Updated: Oct 15, 2023

On Tuesday, a few comments led to a discussion about getting scrappy. Today, we delve into this subject some more and I pray that we will walk away from today's message feeling emboldened and empowered in the Lord.

The devil wants human beings blind to the reality of who they are in the Lord. To forget that before they were born, God knew them and they knew God. Satan wants us thinking we are nothing, have nothing, and can never amount to anything.

However, once we submit ourselves to God and acknowledge Jesus died for us, we shake off the drab rags and shackles to put on a clean garment. This garment marks us as part of God's royal priesthood here on earth. Created to serve the Lord and do great exploits. As Jesus himself promised in John 14:12 - Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father (NKJV).

Becoming a believer plus living a life that fears and obeys the Lord sets us apart. It puts certain weapons at our disposal. Chief of these comes in the form of the Holy Spirit who guides. There's also the gift of speaking in other tongues which confuses and upsets satan.

We become beneficiaries of many other blessings and gifts that are reserved for God's chosen ones. And this is why satan works overtime to get us to sin and forget the godly arsenal we have access to. If we don't realize the power and strength God planted in us we won't use our authority to thwart its plans and block its desires. We won't fire at the enemy's camp. Instead we'll be bogged down in doubt, fear, insecurity, lack and all the problems of the world that we shouldn't have. Why should we be exempt from these challenges? Because God said so all over the Bible - blessings, favor, prosperity, security and more are the portion of His children who walk in alignment with Him.

And this is why we need to get scrappy. We have to resist the devil every time it rears its ugly head. The Bible assures that when we do so, it will flee (James 4:7). We need not cower from the proud but powerless Goliath. Instead, fling wordstones to serve as the scriptural pebbles that kill the giant before us. We have to pray over our families, friends, schools, neighborhoods, workplaces and take authority in the name of Jesus. We have to kick the devil out of the places we frequent.

And we have the authority to do so. Luke 10:19 - I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. This means if you are walking right with the Lord, you can be heavy footed and throw your spiritual weight around, pleading the blood of Jesus into every situation.

Get scrappy. Your enemy the devil roars like a lion but isn't actually one. It has an advanced degree in perpetrating as what it isn't. Your Father, God, on the other hand? He doesn't pretend and told you in His word to put your foot on the enemy's neck (Joshua 10:24). Joshua 10:25 - Joshua said to them, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Be strong and courageous. This is what the LORD will do to all the enemies you are going to fight.”

Get scrappy. Be courageous. Put your feet on the devil's neck with fellowship, praise, thanksgiving, worship, intercession, prayers, fasting, and meditating on God's word.

God bless you and see you at 12 Noon EST.
