God is Responsible for you: Holy Spirit - Friday Praise & Pray (for others) April 29, 2022

Regardless of their financial capacity, good fathers give good things to their offspring. One father always uplifts his son and takes the time to share knowledge with him. Another father teaches his daughter about the family's history. Yet another father, makes sure to provide a roof over his children's heads, no matter how meager his means may be.

Similarly, God gives His children good things. His breath in our lungs is a blessed gift. The presence of good friends and family in our life are because of Him. And if we're to be honest, the fact we made it through some very tough times is testimony to the gift of His grace upon us. In fact, we're told in James 1:17 - Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. Our good Father definitely gives us good gifts, praise the Lord!

And yet, one of the best gifts from God is often ignored - the Holy Spirit.

Most of us focus, rightfully, on the Lord and His Son. Yet, we cannot ignore the importance of the third part of the Trinity. The Bible actually makes it clear that God's children have Holy Spirit. Consider Romans 8:14-15 - For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

Receiving and walking through life with the Holy Spirit is crucial. The Holy Spirit is a loving gift given by God the Father to His earthly children to help us as an Advocate who also reminds of what Jesus taught (John 14:26), Intercessor (Romans 8:26), Teacher (John 14:26), Source of Truth (John 6:13) and more. All for our benefit. We need Him desperately to successfully do this thing called life. Through Him we hear and understand the voice and word of God. We get to have a deeper relationship with the Lord Almighty.

If you are a child of God and if you call Him your father, then you need to have the Holy Spirit. Why don't you ask Him today to give you the Holy Spirit? The gift is available and free. And if you feel you already walk around Spirit-filled, how about you ask Him for more? After all, the Lord has instructed His children to ask that they receive (Matthew 7:7-8). If you ask, you will therefore receive from your Father who bears responsibility for you and wants you to have all the best gifts here and in heaven. Hallelujah!
