God's Love Trumps Fear - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) May 3, 2022

We're all so afraid of everything. People are jumping at their very own shadows nowadays. One could argue there's a good reason for this. Life is hard and there's tension everywhere. We're still living through a pandemic that's killed so many. And what about the uptick in violence? If we go beyond the headlines and take a look into our personal lives, the harsh realities we each face from day to day confirm there's more than enough to worry about.

However, fear is not of God and it is not the appropriate response to the troubles we face (2 Timothy 1:7). Fear is sent by the devil to incapacitate us. It serves to make us forget what the Lord spent the last three weeks teaching us - He's responsible for us.

And this is why 1 John 4:18 is so relevant for us today. It states, There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

In the face of fear, we must remember we have a Father who's love for us is perfect. It knows no bounds. This is why He promised to provide for all our needs and to bring us through every circumstance that comes our way. This love for His children never dies. In fact, His servant Apostle Paul stated in Romans 8:38-39 - For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Absolutely nothing can separate us from our Father's love.

When we remember God's undying love, our faith grows and that faith conquers our fears. It spurs us to make choices from a position of strength, knowing the Almighty Redeemer will not forget us in our times of need. Knowing God's love, helps us to recognize the avenues He sends to get us out of the challenging situations we face (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Song of Solomon 6:3 - I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine; he browses among the lilies.

We who believe in God, who honor Him with praise and lives reflecting His goodness are indeed His beloveds. Let us hold onto this fact as we move through whatever issues we face. Let us not forget that He loves us and rest on that love to eradicate the worry that satan sends to incapacitate us.

May the Lord God Almighty reassure you of His deep love for you today. I pray the first-hand knowledge of His love drives out every spirit of fear in you. IJN, Amen.
