God's Written Word - Friday Praise & Pray (for others) September 17, 2021

Yesterday, I read something that convicted me. I was reading Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary on Exodus 34:24 and there was a line that stopped me short - "We can never be enough thankful to God for the written word."

That got me thinking. When last did I thank the Lord for the Bible? It is after all our manual for living. I repented and praised the Lord for giving us His words, direct from His mouth and from the lips of His servants.

And that got me thinking some more. When last did I thank God for the numerous ways He speaks to me? I'm not sure about you, but the Lord takes His time to communicate in numerous ways. It can be a line in a song that answers a question I posed to Him. He might give me understanding encased in someone else's testimony. Or, I could be watching a Christian program and hear a Bible verse or dialogue that clarifies something confusing.

I realized I've taken for granted the fact that I can hear the Lord and even see His hand moving in my life and that of others.

Imagine if I'd lived at some other point in time, when people had no access to Bibles or to the word of the Lord via other means? Nowadays, we are spoiled for choice as to what version of the Bible we want to read. Is it NIV? MSG? GNT? Do we want to listen to the audio version on our phone or on our smart device? We can watch long dead preachers teach us or listen to current men and women of God share key nuggets that we need for our walk with God.

And to think there are people in the world desperate for more of the word of the Lord but live in countries with limited access. Meanwhile, here we are with all the access in the world but not enough gratitude for that blessing.

If this makes you feel bad, welcome to the club. I still feel sad thinking how I've failed to show enough gratitude for what the Lord has done for me. And not just on this issue. It's a glaring example of how much more we need to be thankful.

So, if this has hit you a certain way, why not do something about it? Why not praise the Lord right now? Why not tell Him 'thank You' for sharing His mind with us via the Bible. Why not worship Him for being our Creator? Why not write down what you are grateful for and tell Him?

He is worthy of praise for He is very good to us.

Psalm 107:8 - Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind,

Give God thanks. Praise the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He is the God of gods.

Join us 12 Noon EST to worship the Lord and honor Him for His holiness, steadfastness, and so much more. We'll also pray for others and then get back to praising Him. All over the course of an hour. May the Lord bless you!
