Heirs To The Promise - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) December 8, 2020

I was reading the book of Galatians this morning and paused when I got to Galatians 3:29. It states, If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise (NIV).

Here's the same verse in the Good News Translation - If you belong to Christ, then you are the descendants of Abraham and will receive what God has promised.

Something about this verse got me very excited. I've read it before but today, it just hit different.

I realized I needed to refresh my memory on what God promised Abraham and went to Genesis 12. Verses 2 and 3 say,

I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Today I am reminded that I belong to Christ, therefore, I am a recipient of the exciting blessings listed above and the many others the Lord gave to His people over the centuries. Because His word will never fail (Luke 1:37), I know that no matter what today looks like or what yesterday was, I have plenty to look forward to. All because of His love which endures forever (Psalm 136).

He is the God who said in Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I hope that as we go through this day and the many days of the rest of our life, we will occasionally remind ourselves of the heritage we have a right to. The Lord plans for us to excel and exist in His abundance. We can achieve that by submitting to His will, obeying His laws, believing in Jesus and trying to be more like Him.

For those familiar with my writings here, you'll expect what comes next...

Praise and Pray offers us an opportunity to claim and hold on tight to our blessings. We all know that the devil wants to snatch those blessings away from us. After all, John 10:10 tells us, [t]he thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy... When we step into the presence of the Lord with worship, however, satan is made powerless and our requests send the ministering angels running to bring what the Lord has declared as ours.

So, I hope to see you at Noon EST for today's Praise & Pray (for others). Let us reclaim our blessed inheritance as heirs of a man deemed God's friend, Abraham (Isaiah 41:8).
