Our Godly Resolutions for 2022 - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) December 28, 2021

Preparing for the new year can be a busy time. For many, that's when they deep clean their home - hunting down cobwebs and washing curtains. In some cultures, the tradition is to replace old furniture and ensure the house gets fresh paint inside and/or out. More commonly, the new year is a time for us to implement beneficial, new resolutions. For instance, January is typically the month when gyms are the most filled, with everyone starting the year off with exercise.

Just over 2 weeks ago, I shared the following message -

I want to encourage us all to think about the sort of person we want to be at this same time next year. By this, I mean the type of spiritual person we want to be. Do you want to speak in tongues? Do you want the capacity to fast for 24 hours? Do you want the ability to pray in power and make the devil flee? What about your children? Your spouse? Your parents? Siblings? Let us take some time to think about how we want to relate with the Lord and serve Him in 2022. And once you have an idea, seek out the word of God on it. Use that to decree and pray over yourself. And if you are also praying for others, carry out the same exercise and find the applicable scripture then speak a prayer over them. Be sure your desire is not selfish or pride-driven. Then, commit it to the Lord in accordance with Proverbs 16:3 - Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

Have you considered the above? If not, now is the perfect time as 2022 is mere days away. If you're not sure where to start, how about taking a look at the fruits of the Spirit? Galatians 5:22-23 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law (NASB). Do you think you need some or all of these?

Maybe you could consider someone from the Bible you admire. Is there a characteristic of theirs you'd like for yourself? For instance, Daniel prayed to God three times a day and lived righteously in a pagan kingdom. Several people heard the voice of the Lord and engaged Him in conversation - Abraham, Moses, Mary, Paul. King Solomon prayed for and received wisdom. Jabez asked the Lord to expand his territory and take away his pain. God answered positively. Elisha performed faith acts that showed God was beyond powerful, such as using salt to heal a poisonous broth or bringing an axe head up out of a river on the basis of unshakable faith.

There is so much God has to offer us and the new year gives us a chance to seek out His special spiritual fruits, gifts and blessings. So, what's it going to be? Will you desire a better and stronger version of your spiritual self in 2022? I pray you will.

Join us 12 Noon EST for today's Praise & Pray (for others) fellowship.
