P&P, The Why - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) July 14, 2020

I probably sound like a broken record. Every week, I say the same thing over and over again - "Praise the Lord. Don't pray for your needs."

It sounds strange to many I'm sure. However, I am a firm believer that thanking the Lord, then putting the needs of others above ours (in prayer) is a key to attracting the blessings of the Lord.

Psalm 50:23: Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation. (NIV) That same verse reads in the Good News Translation (GNT) - Giving thanks is the sacrifice that honors me, and I will surely save all who obey me.

How often do you wish you could obey God? How often do you wish you could avail yourself of His grace? Praising the Lord is the way to start. You'll see it gets easier from there.

And as for praying for others, Ephesians 6:18 - And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people. (NIV). And in the GNT - Do all this in prayer, asking for God's help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. For this reason keep alert and never give up; pray always for all God's people.

Let us use this opportunity to obey the Lord, honoring Him through our words and deeds. Lay your troubles at his feet. I hope you'll join me at 12 noon EST for Praise and Pray (for others).
