Patience: A Fruit of The Spirit - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) July 6, 2021
Patience is a fruit of the Holy Spirit and it is one we need in our walk with the Lord.
Galatians 5:22 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Think about Caleb in the Bible, he had to wait 40 years until he was 85 to claim the land God promised him for his unshakable faith. The Bible says nothing about him grumbling, instead, it says he walked up to the leader of his people, Joshua, and reminded him that he was yet to receive his allotment of land. Then, once he received Joshua's blessing, he went out and claimed his land at God's appointed time.
Caleb could have gotten impatient. He could have looked at the years passing by and given up - deciding that if God was going to indeed give him what was promised, He would have already done so. Instead of falling for the lies of devil - the doubt and disbelief that satan peddles - he trusted and waited on the Lord, knowing that at the right time what had been spoken over his life would indeed come to pass. And so it did according to Joshua 14:14 - So Hebron has belonged to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite ever since, because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.
How many of us could wait without complaining as Caleb did? So often we can hardly wait when the power goes out or our favorite site/forum is down. But we need patience to stare down life's challenges, knowing God has a plan as stated in Jeremiah 29:11.
May the Lord grant us the grace to be patient, to walk with Him knowing that even though we have to wait, His promises shall surely come to pass.
