Plumb Line - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) September 22, 2020

Are you familiar with the term "plumb line"? It was a tool used in construction to determine how straight a line/wall was.

My first encounter with the term was while reading the Book of Amos sometime ago. The Lord was threatening to bring judgment upon His people in the Kingdom of Israel. Amos cried out twice, saying, "Sovereign Lord, forgive! How can Jacob survive? He is so small!" (Amos 7:2,5).

Both times, God relented but the third time, however, the Almighty showed Amos a vision of a wall built true to a plumb line. He explained to His prophet that He would no longer relent in bringing justice. He said in Amos 7: 8, And the LORD asked me, "What do you see, Amos?" "A plumb line," I replied. Then the Lord said, "Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer.

That plumb line has been set and it is for us, the children of God to align ourselves with it. We need to return to living lives the Lord would be pleased with. Lives that honor and glorify Him.

That isn't the easiest thing for me to do and I'm certain I'm not the only one who feels that way. Today is a perfect opportunity, nevertheless, to try again. We have the mind of Christ in us (1 Corinthians 2:16) and we were created with the spirit of self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7).

As such, when we recommit ourselves to our God we become straight again and step out of the pressures of the world which seek to curve us and make us imperfect. If you have given your life to Jesus by becoming born again, how about you recommit to Him? Tell Him you are His servant. If you are yet to become born again, how about you do so today?

Far too often, we think there's time but the truth is there isn't enough time to do the right thing. We need to place ourselves within His hedge of protection for the devil is a lion seeking whom to devour (1 Peter 5:8) and we don't want to be 'it'.

Let's get ready for Praise and Pray and prepare to give ourselves completely to the Lord so we can be as straight as that plumb line and be excluded from the planned judgment. See you at 12 noon EST. God bless you!

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them. (Matthew 18:20)
