Submit To God & Be Humble - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) April 13, 2021
Isaiah 45:9 - “What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, ‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’ Does the pot exclaim, ‘How clumsy can you be?’ (NLT)
How many of us have argued with God? How many of us have challenged His authority? We all have. The reason is because we often never stop to ask Him what His will is for us - on anything. Should I take that job? Attend that college? Go to that particular church? Be friends with that group of people? Start that business?
Instead, we make our own choices then expect God to move in accordance to our decisions. We don't stop to pray, to fast, to search the scripture for His mind so we walk to the tune of His decisions for us.
However, we are instructed in Job 22:21 - “Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you (NLT). The same verse in the English Standard Version is Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you.
Have you submitted your desires, your wants and needs to God? Or are you just going to ignore the King of kings?
God is patient and kind, but He requires our humility. James 4:10 - Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
How do you humble yourself? Ask Him what His will and plan for you are and then seek His face in prayer and fasting. Wait for Him to speak through the Bible, a Spirit-led song or film, a dream, a word from someone who believes in Him. Don't get impatient. Develop a habit of stopping to know His mind on things. Moving before He instructs can create a situation fraught with heartache. God wants to spare us from sadness and heartache if we would only approach Him in humility and obedience.
Let us use today's fellowship hour to humble ourselves before our God. We will glorify Him and intercede for others, then submit ourselves to Him so that we can walk in alignment with our Father.
See you at Noon EST for P&P. God bless you!
