Serve with your Talents & Gifts - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) August 4, 2020

Updated: Jan 17, 2022

"Come and share your master's happiness!"

That line comes from Matthew 25 in verses 21 and 23. It was mentioned by Jesus when He told the Parable of the Bags of Gold. In that story, Jesus shared about a wealthy man who gave bags of gold to his servants prior to leaving on a journey. After a long trip, he returned.

The servant given five bags now had ten bags, having invested and multiplied his master's gold to create a profit. The servant who received 2 bags also created a profit. He now had two extra for a total of four. To these two, their master said - ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

The servant that received one bag of gold, had dug a hole and kept it there. For his failure to multiply what he'd been given, he was tossed out of the house.

And the moral of the story is - we must take whatever talents and gifts we've been given by God and do our best with them. The servant that put his bag of gold in the ground didn't even try to do better. Each was given bags of gold commensurate to their ability but if we know that as children of God, there is no limit to what we are capable of doing, we will step out on faith each and every time.

God will catch us if we fall and put us on the right path so that we multiply that which he gave us. He'll do it because it will glorify His holy name.

Today, let us keep this mind as we engage in Praise & Pray (for others). Let us see how we can take what we've been given to magnify the Lord. Your very voice can praise the Lord. Your very thoughts can exalt Him. Your prayers for others can honor Him. Your finances can worship Him. Your time can venerate Him.

I hope you'll use Praise & Pray as a vehicle to love and please God Almighty so you'll be told 'Come and share your master’s happiness!’

See you at 12 noon EST.
