Rely on God, Not Man - Tuesday Praise & Pray (for others) July 21, 2020

Updated: Jan 12, 2022

Glory be to God in the highest!

I recently read about King Asa of the Kingdom of Judah in the Bible. He was under attack from Zerah the Cushite and called on the Lord in 2 Chronicles 14:11. The verse ends with him praying, "Lord you are our God, do not let mere mortals prevail against you."

Of course, God swept in and handled it!

The next time King Asa faced an opposing army, however, he opted to bribe a stronger king (the King of Aram) to intervene. The result was petty and dramatic - the King of Aram took the bribe and reneged on his alliance with Judah's enemy.

God let King Asa know of his mistake - he'd relied on a man instead of relying on God who'd already proven He is the solution to all problems.

King Asa fell into the trap of thinking that a challenge from a powerful enemy required human smarts to overcome. It's something so many of us do and that will always be folly. God will never be pleased when we don't come right back to Him for help when life gets tough.

If you've got a challenge that requires God's help, why don't you turn to Him today? Yes, we have aptitude and intelligence but without Him, all is useless. Relying on Him will ensure permanent success.

Praise and Pray starts at 12 Noon EST. Join us to praise the Lord for the good He has done for you and others, then pray for the needs of others. When you've done that, how about you go to the feet of the Father to pray for answers to the issues needing solving in your life? If you'd like others to pray for you, we can make that happen too.

God bless you and see you soon!
